Cornerback Shawn Springs is expected to be released by the Redskins.

According to the Washington Post's Jason LaCanfora, they could make a play for Dre' Bly and/or Fred Smoot, who was a Redskin before his career was derailed in Minnesota. Springs' 2007 cap number is $7.35 million.

Springs might be a FS candidate

There is a good chance that Joey Galloway recruits Shawn Springs to the Bucs because Galloway and Springs are really good friends.

Wow everybody's trash is all the sudden our starters - what the hell is going on with this team as what makes any of you think Shawn Springs can A) stay healthy and B) want to play safety as he has never been much of a hitter?

Springs isn't needed in Tampa.  The man has cleat dents in his chest cavity.

I would not call a DB getting cut that was going to make $7.3 million trash. More like cap casualty. I'm sorry I realy do not have all the facts when was the last time that we had a DB going to make $7.3 million?

In the Washington Post today they said he was going to probably be a guy they restructure. He's a good player - his loss for most of the season destroyed the Skins - but his health is almost always an issue and that's not going to change at his age.
