The Tampa Bay Buccaneers considered several different logos and color schemes before deciding to go with the pewter and red they wear today. But Bucs fans can take a look at what might have been in this article, which has a link to a photo gallery of different helmets and logos.

There are a lot of amazing features at the new One Buccaneer Place, but perhaps one of them has been lost in all of the buzz surrounding Tampa Bay’s new, state-of-the-art training facility.

Starting in 1996, the Buccaneers spent over one year working with artists and NFL Properties to design the team’s new logo and color scheme.

Several ideas were put on the table and considered, but the Buccaneers eventually went with the red and pewter color scheme, the pewter helmet and the red flag logo they unveiled in 1997 and still wear today.

Pewter Report has pictures of several different helmets that were considered a decade ago and are currently on display in a case in the front lobby of the new One Buccaneer Place.
