The Tampa Bay Buccaneers re-signed cornerback Torrie Cox Friday. Cox, 26, started three games at cornerback while ranking tied for first on the team with 20 special teams tackles in 2006.

The Buccaneers haven’t been too active in terms of signing other teams’ unrestricted free agents, but they’ve had success re-signing their own.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers re-signed cornerback Torrie Cox Friday, PewterReport.com is reporting.

Terms of the deal weren’t immediately available.

Cox is the third player to re-sign with the Bucs since Thursday. Fullback Mike Alstott and CB Phillip Buchanon re-signed with the Bucs on Thursday.

The 5-foot-10, 181-pound Cox has started three of the 43 career games he’s played in since entering the NFL in 2006 as a sixth-round pick out of Pittsburgh.

Three of those starts came last season after Tampa Bay lost CB Brian Kelly for the year due to injury.

Cox has recorded 35 career tackles, one interception, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and four passes defensed as a defender.

However, his biggest contributions have come on special teams. Last season, Cox ranked tied for first on the team with 20 special teams tackles, which earned him Pro Bowl alternate honors.

In addition to his 45 career special teams tackles, Cox has returned 75 kickoffs for 1,717 yards (22.9 avg.) during his four-year career.
