The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed offensive tackle Jabari Levey to their roster on Monday. The 6-foot-6, 315-pound Levey was a star player at the University of South Carolina in 2005 and was signed as an undrafted free agent last year by the Oakland Raiders. Levey was released on September 2, 2006 and was drafted by the Berlin Thunder to play in NFL Europa this past spring and summer.
The Bucs signed Levey because of an NFL Europa exemption. One of Tampa Bay's NFL Europa allocated players, quarterback Bruce Eugene, suffered a season-ending shoulder injury in the last week of the season and was placed on NFL Europa injured reserve. Because NFL Europa players carry roster exemptions through training camp, Eugene's injury freed up Tampa Bay to sign another NFL Europa player, who carries the same exemption.
When Eugene is medically cleared to return to the Buccaneers, the team will have to decide whether to keep him or Levey.
The addition of Levey gives Tampa Bay seven offensive tackles. The Bucs also have seven quarterbacks on their roster, including Eugene and Jake Plummer, who has stated his desire to retire from the NFL and is being treated like a hold out by Tampa Bay.

TC fodder but you never can tell. I'd rather take a look at a potential OT prospect than use the NFLE exemption on another QB like Eugene that has no shot, active roster or PS.

It seems that Tampa Bay is overcrowded at several positions. This will be interesting 2 see how things shake out in training camp. The players will really have 2 push hard 2 make this team. The more bodies Tampa has the more players have 2 prove. The players have to come 2 training camp and make a name 4 themselves. I like the mix of youth and veterans.

It's pretty bad when the Raiders don't want you?
