Tampa Bay signed rookie safety Sabby Piscitelli to a four-year contract on Thursday afternoon. The Bucs used one of their two second-round picks in the 2007 NFL Draft to select Piscitelli in April. He will compete with Jermaine Phillips for the starting strong safety job in training camp.

The Buccaneers signed second-round draft pick, safety Sabby Piscitelli, to a four-year contract on Thursday.

The Bucs signed first-round draft pick, defensive end Gaines Adams, to a six-year contract earlier in the day.

Tampa Bay used one of its two second-round picks in the 2007 NFL Draft to select Piscitelli in April.

Piscitelli had an impressive collegiate career at Oregon State. A three-year starter, Piscitelli recorded 178 tackles, 29 pass breakups, 15 interceptions, 10 tackles for loss, three fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and one sack.

The 6-foot-3, 228-pound Piscitelli was one of the NFL’s fast risers up teams’ draft boards when he ran a 4.44 in the 40-yard dash at his Pro Day workout and turned in an impressive East-West Shrine Game.

Piscitelli will compete with Jermaine Phillips for Tampa Bay’s starting strong safety job in training camp.

The Bucs have one draft pick -- guard Arron Sears -- unsigned, but Bucs head coach Jon Gruden said he expects to have Sears report to Celebration Hotel sometime this evening.
