Giants Knock Off Undefeated Patriots To Win Super Bowl XLII |

The New York Giants pulled off one of the biggest upsets in the history of the NFL on Sunday by downing the undefeated New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII, 17-14. The Giants are the first NFC team to win the Super Bowl since the Bucs won Super Bowl XXXVII on Jan. 26, 2003.
The New York Giants shocked the world by downing the undefeated New England Patriots 17-14 in Super Bowl XLII at University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona on Sunday.
New York's defense, which recorded a league-high 53 sacks during the 2007 regular season, shut down New England's No. 1-ranked scoring offense, holding the Patriots to just 274 yards and two touchdowns.
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was sacked just 21 times in 16 regular season games, but the Giants defense brought him down five times and pressured him several others.
Despite their offensive inconsistencies, the Patriots took a 14-10 lead over the Giants when Brady threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Randy Moss with just 2:42 remaining in the game.
The Giants offense was the only thing standing in the way of the Patriots making history by going 19-0 and winning their fourth Super Bowl in seven seasons.
But Giants QB Eli Manning engineered an 83-yard drive that ended with his 13-yard touchdown strike to WR Plaxico Burress with just 35 seconds remaining in the Super Bowl, giving New York a 17-14 lead.
Manning completed 19-of-34 passes for 255 yards and tossed two touchdowns and one interception en route to earning Super Bowl XLII MVP honors. Last year, Eli's brother, Peyton, won the MVP of Super Bowl XLI in the Colts' win over the Bears.
The Giants, who were 12-point underdogs heading into Sunday's game, lost to the Patriots in Week 17 of the regular season, 38-35.
That proved to be the last time New York would lose a game as the Giants won three straight road games in the playoffs vs. Tampa Bay, Dallas and Green Bay, respectively, en route to and through the Super Bowl.
Winning on the road is nothing new to the Giants, though. They posted an impressive 11-1 record away from Giants Stadium this season.
The New York Giants are the first NFC team to win the Super Bowl since the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Oakland Raiders in Super Bowl XXXVII on Jan. 26, 2003.

That game was such B.S. If they play that game 10 times, the Pats win all 10. Why did the Giants have to mess up the greatest run in all of sports?
Well, talk to the Giants fans...Coughlin was about to get fired last year, guess they'll want to renew his contract now...And Eli was about to be run out of town..Now he's one of the best QB's in the league...When he throws 20 more picks next year I don't want to hear these annying Giants fans start bitching..

I'm GLAD the Giants won! Why wouldn't you want the team that knocked your team out of the playoffs, to go all the way? The Patriots looked rattled last night, guess the game gets tougher when you have no idea what the other team is planning on doing! Its not the greatest run when you get caught cheating! There has ALWAYS BEEN TALK ABOUT THE PATRIOTS CHEATING! Serves'em right! Congrats Giants on a game well played! Great D!

That was an Incredible Game. As a Pure Football Fan, you couldn't have asked for a more Intense game. Both Teams were Gassed by the end and they laid everything out there on the Field and that's all you can ask for. As usual, Belichick showed his true colors by running off the field before the game was over and being a Sore Loser. Way to set an example. Ironically, the Giants Pass Rush reminded me a lot of OUR Pass Rush from '99 and '02 Seasons. That's what we need to get back to. Our Back 7 are Real Good, we just need to get more pressure from our front four. Concerning the Front Four of the Giants, they were an Undersized group. Essentially, they start 4 Defensive Ends. Perhaps getting bigger up front isn't as important.
