The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have locked up their long-snapper for the long-term. On Friday the Bucs signed Andrew Economos to a five-year contract. The exclusive-rights free agent was not allowed to negotiate with other teams.

On Friday the Tampa Bay Buccaneers made a move to secure a key member of their special teams. The Bucs signed long-snapper Andrew Economos to a five-year contract. Economos was an exclusive-rights free agent, which meant that he could not negotiate with another team.

Last season, Economos started all 16 games as the team's long-snapper. Economos, 25, handled the long-snapping duties in every game and recorded one special teams tackle. The 6-foot-1, 250-pound Economos has been participating in Tampa Bay's team workouts this offseason.

The Buccaneers originally signed Economos in 2006. In that season, he spent time on the practice squad and the active roster before ending the season on injured-reserve. In 2005, Economos spent the entire season on the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad. He signed with Jacksonville as an undrafted free agent in April of 2005.

By signing Economos to an extension, the Buccaneers have brought back their three special teams specialists for the third straight season. Punter Josh Bidwell, kicker Matt Bryant, and Economos have all been with the team as a unit since 2006.

Good for Andrew, and good for the Team. Wish other players would settle in and be happy.
Trying to decide if I should start buying tickets or just stay home and watch, since I live in Kentucky I am one of the traveling away supporters. Not to many options for games for me this year, I want to be proud when I wear my gear to an unfreindly place. With all the negative press making me feel a little foolish for following the team, let's settle some of the grips so I can want to stay a fan.

GO BUCS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
