Bucs Rookies Involved In Fight |

Tampa Bay rookie CB Aqib Talib (pictured) and RB Cory Boyd were reportedly involved in a fight at the NFL Rookie Symposium (Cliff Welch) |
Two of Tampa Bay's 2008 draft picks - cornerback Aqib Talib and running back Cory Boyd - were involved in an altercation at the 12th annual rookie symposium over the weekend, according to ProFootballTalk.com.
Approximately 250 players attended the 12th annual NFL rookie symposium in Carlsbad, Calif. last weekend. The event is aimed at steering NFL's rookies down the right path in life and their professional football careers.
Two of Tampa Bay's rookies evidently didn't get the message.
Bucs first-round draft pick, cornerback Aqib Talib, and seventh-round draft selection, running back Cory Boyd, were involved in an altercation at the NFL rookie symposium, according to ProFootballTalk.com.
ProFootballTalk.com's report states that the Talib and Boyd began fighting while attending a budget and finances meeting over the weekend. Talib allegedly had been jawing with Boyd before punches were thrown.
Talib's stock in the 2008 NFL Draft dropped a bit due to the fact that he admitted testing positive for marijuana three different times while playing collegiately at Kansas. The Bucs selected him with the 20th overall pick in the draft.
Boyd was suspended by South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier in 2005 for violating athletic department policy.
Unlike Talib, Boyd has already signed his rookie contract with the Buccaneers. It is unknown whether the NFL and/or the Buccaneers plan to discipline the players for the altercation.
Pewter Report's attempt to reach the Buccaneers and the agents for Talib and Boyd for comment were unsuccessful.

I was not very happy about the Cory Boyd selection. Maybe we should just cut our loses now and dump him. Talib needs to realize he is a first round pick and he has a responsibility to represent himself as one, as well as the Buccaneers organization. I hope the Bucs come down hard on him. This is embarrassing!!!!

I am for the first time disappointed in an article published by PR. Why report on this 'altercation' at all withot having any facts nor any confirmation from the NFL or Buccaneers? It's bad journalism, IMO to further promote an article by Mike Florio, an known rumor mill promoter. What happens if the NFL denies that an actual fight occured? I hope PR will just as quickly recant this article and apologize to the players.

What a couple o' douche bags ! they were supposed to be attending an event about behaving like a "professional",not as children.I hear that Adam "pacman" Jones is looking to drop the "pacman" from his name-is Talib hoping to take the name over? Our first rounder should be punished-hit him where it hurts,in the pocketbook. He has yet to sign a contract and is showing signs already that he's prone to off the field problems, why not have his contract reflect that.Bruce-make sure these clowns stay outta the strip clubs in Vegas,it could mean trouble. Hopefully both of them will leave the hitting to the gridiron.....what a joke....

This is EXACTLY why I didn't want us drafting Talib - dudes nothing but bad news.

When I first read the headline I had hoped the result would be someone started a fight with them (perhaps talking smack about the Bucs) and they were defending themselves. I'm dissappointed to hear they were fighting with each other.
Doesn't Boyd have a hurt knee? How can a guy be dumb enough to fight with someone at the rookie symposium after missing all of the OTA's and mini-camps, let alone a teammate? Aqib's wonderlic was low at the combine so this line of decision making from him doesn't surpise me.
I'm not ready to pull out the torchs and pitchforks, but Aqib Talib better turn out to be a great CB because I'm sure this won't be the last the he makes headlines for doing something dumb. Boyd is a non-issue 'cause he's not making the team anyway.

I am so not surprise. Talib is immature. This is the guy that's smoking Black and Milds after practice and has that I'm above everyone else attitude. This guys all fake when it comes down to his public perception. This guy better pan out because I would have love to have Mike Jenkins on this team. This years draft class is definitely below last years draft in every way. Skills, talent, attitude, character, and class.

As a one-time athlete let me say this is a ho hum. Guys "altercate' all the time. It's like us posters - no real meat to dig our teeth into so we excavate and elevate. Now, if some low pick or FA actually damaged our first rounder then, like the guy in the Jim Reeves song, "he'll have to go."

Yes, this is somewhat embarrassing. This is football however and although off the field, football players tend to have a mean streak in them. Let's give these guys a one time pass and if there is anymore "drama" from either one, then we give them a sit down and discipline.

This is a crap issue - blown out of proportion IMHO. I've read elsewhere that it was loud but no fight per se. What do you expect from a couple of young dudes who have trash talked each other through OTA's and mini-camps?
The only downside is the naysayers who criticized Allen's picking Taliq in the 1st place. Say good bye 7th round pick.

While some say its football, theres a time and place for everything. You may talk trash etc,,, on the field or in the locker room. However this kind of incident at the rookie symposium?!?!... C'mon, this is just sooo classless!

Well it's good to know our #1 pick can talk some #1 smack. What I really care about is can he back it up. I mean if you can talk a guy out of his game at a finance class, think what this guy can do between the lines. He'll have receivers so upset, they'll be running all the wrong routes. Way to go Aqib.

It would be nice to know the details before passing judgement. This story is not newsworthy at this point.... football season needs to start soon!!!

Yes!! Man I love this. Talib and Boyd are some fiery guys and they going to bring the juice to the team we need. We need some fights during training came we can separate the players who really wants to be on this team

Hopefully they will learn to wait until the opposing team is on the feild and take out their aggresion on them instead of each other. If not well then we can always send them PACKING!!
GO BUCS !!!!!!!!!!!!!
