What does Bucs QB Jeff Garcia think about Tampa Bay's reported interest in acquiring retired Green Bay Packers QB Brett Favre? As of right now, not much. Pewter Report has Garcia's text message response in this article.

Tampa Bay quarterback Jeff Garcia did not report with his teammates to Celebration Hotel for the start of training camp on Friday.

Garcia has been excused by the Bucs for the first two days of training camp (July 26 and 27) so he can attend his father's 35th-year anniversary reunion for his junior college championship in California.

Most of the buzz coming out of Celebration Hotel on Friday focused on an absent quarterback, but it wasn't Garcia. Instead, the conversation and questions focused on retired Green Bay Packers QB Brett Favre.

Multiple reports surfaced Friday that the Green Bay Packers had given permission to the Buccaneers and the New York Jets to speak to Favre, who is expected to submit a letter to the NFL asking to be reinstated to the league as early as today. Favre plans to report to Packers training camp this weekend.

Bucs head coach Jon Gruden attempted to downplay the Favre reports on Friday and stated that as of today Garcia, 38, is Tampa Bay's starting quarterback.

How does Garcia feel about the reports that suggest the Buccaneers are interested in trading for Favre? As of right now, not much, but that could change when he takes the practice field on Monday.

"I really don't have anything to say about that stuff," Garcia said in a text message to PewterReport.com. "I'll be there on Monday to answer questions."

Garcia, 38, completed 63.9 percent of his passes for 2,440 yards and tossed 13 touchdowns and four interceptions in his Buccaneer debut in 2007. That performance helped Tampa Bay win the NFC South division title and earned Garcia a trip to the Pro Bowl as an alternate.

The Bucs and the agent for Garcia have been attempting to negotiate a new contract for Garcia, who has one year remaining on his deal, but to no avail.

well if the favre talks have slowed lets work on a boldin move.Arizona's stud receiver(yes they have a few) is unhappy, lets investigate.he is a solid receiver with proven hands who would basically make our WR corp very intimidating. We have a lot of wr's and as many question marks regarding them.It could be great.
cowboys are waiving glenn,he can be had cheaply i figure(hes another question mark).
Bruce-its splash time,lets make a few.

for you x filers-maybe Garsizzler is away for a few days so Simms can get some reps and get possible takers juices flowin'.....hes gonna go-question is for what?

Forget about Boldin cremdonado Arizona not going to let Boldin go he's under contract just because he wants more money doesn't mean they are going to let him go. Forget about Bret I like our chances with Garcia He did a good job last year hopefully we can build on that not start over.

Cremdonado,

Allen doesn't need and should make a "splash" to acquire players. First of all making splashes in free agency is what got the Bucs into a tough cap situation in 2003, 2004 and 2005. Secondly, good teams don't build their roster using free agency, they use the draft and sparingly use free agency to fill in a big hole. or two.

Regarding Boldin, he is a legit #1 wideout, but Arizona is already on record that they will not trade him. Even if they wanted to trade him the Bucs would have to mortgage their future to get him namely multiple high draft picks and on top of that all star wide receivers don't win championships.

The Bucs would be in a better position if they just make sure that defense is solid and the running game is effective. Everything else will fall into place.
