Tampa Bay wide receiver Joey Galloway was held out of the team's first training camp practice at Disney's Wide of World Sports complex on Saturday with a mild groin strain. The Bucs are listing Galloway as day-to-day.
The Buccaneers took the practice field at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex for their first practice on Saturday morning, and it didn't take long for the injury bug to bite.
Tampa Bay wide receiver Joey Galloway did not practice with his teammates due to a mild groin injury.
Galloway, 36, has been the team's most explosive offensive weapon in recent years. He caught 57 passes for 1,014 yards and six touchdowns in 2007.
Bucs head coach Jon Gruden said Galloway will not take part in Saturday afternoon's practice and is considered day-to-day.
"He's got a slight, mild groin strain," Gruden said of Galloway. "We just protected him here a little bit and we'll continue to do that. It's nothing serious."
Galloway's absence meant extra reps for the receivers. According to Gruden, those players made the most of the extra work they got in.
"The receivers looked good today," said Gruden. "They should look good. They should be fresh, agile and feeling good right now."
Galloway, who missed six regular season games in 2004 due to a lingering groin injury, normally is limited to one practice per day in training camp. The Bucs also plan to have several other veterans follow that practice regimen.
"We'll be selective with 12 to 13 guys and we'll be selective with those guys," said Gruden. "We'll limit Warrick [Dunn], Derrick [Brooks, Kevin Carter, and there will be some other guys, too."
The Bucs will also attempt to keep all of their players fresh by practicing indoors at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex for at least half of the afternoon practices.
The indoor practice facility is air-conditioned and is 132 feet x 132 feet and 40-feet high at the crest. The facility, which is approximately 40 yards long, has an indoor temperature that is 20 degrees cooler outside. The facility also has six air-conditioning units inside that eliminate humidity.
"We're going to try to come out here get some special teams work done, weather permitting, and we'll have a couple of periods outdoors for about 45 minutes to one hour," Gruden said of the afternoon practice. "As we go into the cooldown tent everybody's shoes will be laid out and we'll practice in our indoor facility. We're going to try to get a lot of reps for our players without taxing them as much physically."

The brass needs to see what's up with Boldin-He could definitely be the future of this franchise. He is a solid player with a proven track record, this cannot be said about any of our receivers at this point (other than Joey -who's hurt). If a Favre deal can't be done, this is THE move to make.Imagine Joey,Boldin, and Bryant starting-we would be a nightmare for defenses no matter who's QB !!!!We have the money to bring him in,trade Clayton to ARZ (his numbers are easier for ARZ to manage) for him.
Glenn should not be the option, again too many question marks....
Bruce-Get the fans excited-and make a splash...
It could also seal the Favre deal....
And the Superbowl deal......
And the GM of the year.....
And would make this team a threat for the next several years,no matter who the QB might be...
GO B I Z U C S!!!!!
