Tampa Bay QB Jeff Garcia was added to the injury report on Thursday with what has been deemed a hand injury. Bucs head coach Jon Gruden downplayed the severity of the injury, telling the media on Friday that Garcia has a "sore pinkie." Plus, the latest injury report from One Buc Place.

Buccaneers quarterback Jeff Garcia missed most of training camp and three out of four preseason games due to a calf injury.

Garcia, 38, has had full participation in practice this week, but he mysteriously appeared on the injury report with another ailment - a hand injury - on Thursday.

On Friday, Bucs head coach Jon Gruden downplayed the severity of the injury, which is on Garcia's right throwing hand, and said his starting signal caller has had no problem throwing the football in practice.

"He's got a sore pinkie," Gruden said of Garcia. "Since it's the quarterback and he does have a jammed pinkie we put him on the injury list.

"No, I don't think [it's impacted his throwing in practice]. We're just putting him on the injury list and doing our jobs."

INJURY REPORT
Bucs guard Davin Joseph (foot) is out of Sunday's game in New Orleans.

Fullback B.J. Askew (foot), wide receiver Antonio Bryant (knee), wide receiver Michael Clayton (chest), wide receiver Joey Galloway (groin), defensive tackle Jovan Haye (groin), linebacker Matt McCoy (groin), safety Sabby Piscitelli (knee) and defensive tackle Ryan Sims (thigh) are questionable.

Quarterback Jeff Garcia (calf/hand), cornerback Aqib Talib (illness) and tight end Ben Troupe (foot) are probable for the regular season opener vs. the Saints.

Saints defensive tackle Hollis Thomas (triceps) is out.

New Orleans linebacker Troy Evans (ankle), linebacker Mark Simoneau (back), running back Deuce McAllister (knee), cornerback Mike McKenzie (knee), running back Aaron Stecker (hamstring) and defensive tackle Brian Young (foot) are questionable.

Sounds like a built in excuse.
What I'd give for a shot of good news about Garcia/Galloway.
I hope to hell Jon has a back-up plan he is quick to pull thetrigger on if Garcia/Galloway simply are not healthy enough, ready enough to play. And since it's been about 8 MONTHS since that's been the case.........
Damn.

How many excuses will the team make to protect Garshea and Joey Groins?? Both of these guys have been HUGE disappointments this camp and preseason by not participating due to lingering injuries and a laundry list of excuses..Instead of looking to these guys to lead our offense-we need to start looking PAST them. Invest too much in these two and they will let us down. Either one of these guys have shown as of late why the deserve such reverence.I am a Bucs fan-and not a fan of Garshea or Groins. If they aren't ready to go-WHO CARES !! Enough time, energy, and praise has been wasted on these two.I'm now pullin for Greasy or McClown to take the helm-making plays with Stovall,Bryant,Bennett and Dex-The FUTURE of the Bucs-not the relics of the past...

Agreed cremdonado,
It is time to move on with the names you stated. I have made statements of that sediment to fans and they cry "the sky is falling." But reality is that these guys are just flat out "old" in a young man's game. That is what I viewed in the playoffs, a team without gas in key positions. No disrespect to Garcia or Galloway but we have to look at the tape and the tape says these guys have low fuel economy...

Chill out fella's!

We haven't even played one game yet. Let's be more positive and have some faith in the Buc's organization. I for one am optimistic, this is my team and I believe we'll do something special this year.

GO BUCS!!!!!!!!!

danman- its not about being pessimistic, its about being realistic. Both of these guys have had serious problems staying healthy. They are both embattled vets with the scars to prove it.The scar tissue is slowing us down...I am more interested and OPTIMISTIC about a team lead into battle by the guys who fought all preseason and camp long..THEY are the new leaders of this team-give them their chance to win or loose..I would rather mcCown start-EVEN IF he doesnt make the right call everytime. It makes it interesting.I would rather us line up Bryant,Stovall, and Clayton to see what they can do..Joey and Jeff have done some great things in their time-but their time is passing by(if not passed). The longer we hold out for these guys to show the spark, the longer we keep our youth-our future sitting on a bench. They are being robbed of experience that could help push us into the future when Joey and Jeff will be retired..
In my opinion, they both should have left on a high note after last season.Garcia threatened to retire if he didnt see cash.Joey has been plagued by groin and shoulder injuries for many seasons. Both are hanging on to that spotlight, keeping the kids in the dark...Experience is gained in doin it on the field, not watchin from the sidelines..When is our future gonna get its shot?

GO BUCS...young and old...

To Joey and Jeff- in the words of the Gambler,Kenny Rogers-"You gotta know when to fold em........"
