The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have promoted wide receiver Brian Clark to the active roster from the practice squad. To make room for Clark, the Bucs cut linebacker Matt McCoy. Early Saturday morning McCoy was arrested for driving under the influence.
Clark was among the final cuts made to get to the league mandated 53-man roster limit. After a strong showing in the preseason, Clark was signed to the Buccaneers' eight-man practice squad. Clark made five receptions for 50 yards with one touchdown in the preseason.
Clark played for the Denver Broncos during the 2006 and 2007 seasons. Last year, he caught four passes for 23 yards on offense and returned three kickoffs for 70 yards. He was used exclusively as a kick returner in Denver in 2006. He returned 23 kicks for 512 yards, an average of 22.3 yards per kick.
McCoy was in his first season with the Buccaneers, and was inactive for three of the Bucs first six games. He saw game action against the New Orleans Saints in the season opener, recording one tackle on defense while filling in for injured linebacker Derrick Brooks. McCoy recorded two tackles against the Denver Broncos on Oct. 5.
Tampa Bay wide receiver Maurice Stovall has been ruled out with a hamstring injury for the contest with Seattle. Starting split end receiver Joey Galloway could be making his return to the lineup against the Seahawks after missing four games with a foot injury. If Galloway is not ready to return, the Buccaneers may need to have Clark active to provide more depth for the receiving corps.
