The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are targeting several positions in free agency, including cornerback. The Bucs have expressed interest in signing Bengals CB Jamar Fletcher and Bills CB Jabari Greer. Neither player is scheduled to visit the Bucs. Tampa Bay remains interested in re-signing CB Phillip Buchanon.

Addressing needs at the cornerback position appears to be one of Tampa Bay's top priorities less than 24 hours into the free agent signing period.

PewterReport.com is reporting the Bucs have expressed significant interest in Cincinnati Bengals free agent CB Jamar Fletcher and Buffalo Bills free agent CB Jabari Greer.

Fletcher, 29, is considered a journeyman, having played for Miami, San Diego, Detroit, Houston and Cincinnati during his NFL career.

The 5-foot-10, 180-pound Fletcher originally entered the NFL with Miami when Bucs defensive coordinator Jim Bates served in that capacity with the Dolphins. Fletcher played with the Dolphins for three seasons. He has posted seven career interceptions and one touchdown, and possesses the bump-and-run skills Bates is looking for in his defensive backs.

Greer, 27, has notched four interceptions and scored two touchdowns for the Bills during his five-year career. He has spent significant time playing nickel cornerback and has also seen action as a starter in Buffalo.

Tampa Bay is also interested in re-signing CB Phillip Buchanon, who hit the free agent market on Friday morning. Bucs general manager Mark Dominik and Buchanon's agent have been negotiating on a long-term deal for Buchanon for weeks, but to no avail.

Buchanon (5-11, 186), 28, has 18 career interceptions. He has spent the past three seasons with the Bucs.

Tampa Bay has several cornerbacks, including Aqib Talib, Ronde Barber and Elbert Mack, under contract for the 2009 season.

corner the market??? These guys don't even know how to play the game. Only first day player, taken they gave up two pick for and didn't sign anyone. Vilma was a middle linebacker who didn't go to the Saints last year if he had to play olb. Not to cleaver to go after him. Next best linebackers are gone and TB looks like idiots AGAIN.

Don't we need a running back and a def. tackle? We drafted a cornerback in the 1st round last year and the other cornerback made the Pro Bowl this year.

I thought we were going for a Pittsburgh styled team but now I think we're going to get a poorly done Lightning style makeover. I wonder if we'll be able to recognize the team come training camp.
This is not going unnoticed. The fans got Gruden fired....Who's next!

I LOVE this new PLAN

seems an awful lot like the old plan (the one where we talk about signing the elite guys...then we trade 2nd rounders for head cases that crash motorcylces in empty parking lots...

twice.

ugh.

You guys are being to nice, so I'll say it - Who the hell gives a crap about a backup corner! We have no receivers our defensive line is swiss cheese, with two of the starters gone from last year. The last thing on the list we need to worry about is signing a journyman corner.

Why in the world is Bryant McFadden not even mentioned as possible CBs we are interested in? Is it because he is young, and talented? or because he is big and physical so he can actually play the bump and run we need? It makes too much sense....let's go after old guys and 5'10" guys instead....ya.....that's what we should do.....

This just goes to show that you cannot treat guys like Brooks the way that dominic and raheem did and expect any PROFFESIONAL and dedicated players to sign with this team no matter how great the payday. So far all management has done is make tampabay an undesireable place to play. Congradulations Morons!!!!!!!!!! At this point all you guys can do is go after some mediocre players who are seriousally running out of options. What hass Micheal Clayton done after his rookie year. Let me help you with that NOTHING!!!!
