The Bucs signed seven try-out players to contracts Monday. The Bucs signed USF DE Jarriett Buie, OL Marc Dile, WR Amari Jackson, Louisville WR Pat Carter, Hofstra RB Kareem Huggins, James Madison CB Evan McCollough and Southern Miss T Demar Dotson. The team also released three players.
Seven players' auditions led to contract offers from the Bucs, and they inked those deals on Monday.
The newest group of Buccaneers includes three USF Bulls in defensive end Jarriett Buie, offensive lineman Marc Dile and wide receiver Amari Jackson.
The other four try-out players signed to contracts were Louisville WR Pat Carter, Hofstra running back Kareem Huggins, James Madison cornerback Evan McCollough and Southern Miss tackle Demar Dotson.
In order to make room for these seven players on their 80-man roster, the Bucs released wide receiver Paris Warren, T Andre Douglas and CB Greg Fassitt.
The Bucs technically own the rights to 86 players, but their six picks from the 2009 NFL Draft will not count towards the offseason roster until they are signed to their respective contracts, which means some of the players on the offseason roster today may not make it to training camp in August.
The Bucs have added a total of 14 undrafted free agents since the 2009 NFL Draft concluded.
Jackson (6-5, 202) caught 70 passes for 891 yards and four touchdowns in three seasons with USF, which like One Buc Place is located in Tampa.
Buie (6-4, 249) started 26 of the 38 games he played in at USF. Last season, Buie started 13 games and notched five sacks. In his three seasons with the Bulls, Buie recorded 74 tackles (15 for a loss), seven sacks and two passes defensed.
Dile (6-4, 275) is a versatile offensive lineman. He played both tackle positions in four seasons and proved to be a durable player, playing through injury. Dile started a total of 37 games for the Bulls during his four-year collegiate career.
Carter (6-3, 215) originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Baltimore Ravens in 2008. A former player at Georgia Tech, Carter transferred to Louisville in 2005. The speedster caught 26 passes for 395 yards and five touchdowns in his senior season.
Dotson (6-9, 268) is considered a good athlete. He played four years of basketball in college and only one season of collegiate football. Although he played defensive line in college, the Bucs are attempting to mold Dotson as an offensive tackle at the pro level.
Huggins (5-8, 189) displayed impressive athleticism at the rookie mini-camp. He graduated from Hofstra in 2007. He carried the ball 428 times for 2,188 yards (5.1 avg.) and 21 touchdowns during his collegiate career.
A three-year starter in college, McCollough (5-10, 190) notched 220 tackles, four interceptions and 14 passes defensed in 44 games at James Madison.

Questionable move. I don't think it makes or breaks the Bucs season but not sure it was the correct move.
