Crowell May Be Out For Year |
The Buccaneers were running tests on Crowell's arm on Sunday morning and Morris is expected to meet with beat writers later in the day and provide an injury update as several other players were injured against the Jaguars, including cornerback Elbert Mack (ankle), linebacker Jermaine Phillips (shoulder) and running back Kareem Huggins (knee).
Crowell's brief history with the Bucs has been injury-marred. He missed most of Tampa Bay's organized team activities (OTAs) while recovering from last year's knee surgery, which caused him to miss the 2008 campaign as a member of the Buffalo Bills. Just a few days into training camp, Crowell missed a week's worth of practices and the preseason opener at Tennessee with a hamstring strain.
Morris acknowledged last week that Crowell was facing an "uphill battle" to make the team given the amount of time he's missed due to injury.
Back in March, Crowell signed a one-year deal worth $3 million, including $2 million in base salary. The Bucs would be liable to pick up at least the $2 million base salary if he is placed on injured reserve.
