Morris Fined $20,000 For Swearing At An Official

On Wednesday, Bucs head coach Raheem Morris revealed that he was fined $20,000 for swearing at an official, which drew an unsportsmanlike conduct call at Miami last week while he was protesting a controversial instant replay call involving a pass thrown to WR Michael Clayton just before halftime.

"You know I got fined," Morris said. "Yes, I got fined. Again, I'm more than happy to give my money to a charity of [the NFL's] choosing. I'm excited about it. That's where I am. I'm fortunate enough to be in a society where I am able to be fined that much money and be able to give it to a charity and move on and not hold a grudge. I learned my lesson. It was my fault. I made a mistake. There's no doubt about it."

When asked how much Morris was fined by the NFL he said, "I don't know if I want to tell you that" as he walked off the podium before he grinned and looked at reporters and said, "20" - presumably as in $20,000.

Morris' fine total should not come as a surprise as Cincinnati WR Chad Ochocinco was fined $20,000 for joking about bribing an official with a dollar bill two weeks ago during a game.

Waterboy

It makes you wonder how much Gruden paid in fines for swearing at officials over the years.

I wonder how much Bud Adams was fined for flipping off the fans. Oh, that's right, he's an owner, only coaches and players get fined. Billionaire owners can do what they want.

Yeah I agree with waterboy, I've never heard of a coach being fined for cussing at a ref. Wouldn't every single coach be fined every single game of every season? It always seems like ref's get cussed out and they usually act like they don't hear it. I didn't see exactly what took place. Did he do something over the top??

The difference between Gruden and Rah is that the Officials we're already aware of his attitude because unlike Rah, Gruden actually had experience in the big league. Rah is a puppy and the ref basically potty trained him when he threw that flag. There will be no more out burst from Rah like that

I would imagine if he knew this before hand he would have took it even farther and good for him the ref deserved it for that call.
