Clayton Hopes To Play Sunday

Bucs wide receiver Michael Clayton hopes to play vs. the New York Jets after being sidelined for last Sunday's game in Carolina with a MCL sprain.

"I'm taking it day-by-day. I may have a shot this week," said Clayton. "It's just an MCL strain. There's a lot of little things going on there, but there's no tears, so it's day-to-day."

Clayton, who has just 14 catches and one touchdown on the season, hopes to practice at One Buc Place today, but may have to wait until tomorrow to give it a go.

"I can [practice], but I don't know if they want me to," said Clayton. "I'll go tomorrow for sure. I'll have to get my two days in if I'm going to play. That's the schedule right now."

The former first-round pick said he's made a lot of progress since sustained the knee injury in Atlanta.

"It's night and day," said Clayton. "I couldn't even get around right after I did it. I hit a plateau for a few days, but over the last few days it's gotten a lot better. That's why I'm positive about possibly playing this week."

If Clayton can't go vs. the New York Jets, he would be replaced by WR Maurice Stovall.

PewterReport.com will have more injury-related news from One Buc Place throughout the day.

"Clayton Hopes To Play Sunday"

They didn't print the rest of the title:
"but the fans hope he doesn't"

I have said for a long time, I like Clayton, but he got his shot without Gruden and he has failed. The guy can not catch a ball anymore.
He should have been cut a long time ago.

I hope quite the opposite Michael. If the coahcing staff is smart...oh wait they aren't...then they would just let you ride the pine the rest of the year and let some of these other guys who still have a chance of becoming at the very least consistent #3 WR who can regularly rack up 300-400 yds a year (which is more than I can say about you) and make SOME catches, get some PT. You're done son, ride off into the sunset.

I'll chip in. How much do you think we need to get the Browns and Rams some wins?

Oooh goodie, I'm sure the Jets are glad to hear that. 14 catches and 1 td on the season for a starting wide receiver is pitiful. I bet some blocking tightends have more than that. He must own a nice pair of kneepads. Play somebody that might be in our future and cut this bum.
