The Buccaneers got another one of their rookies under contract with the signing of defensive tackle Brian Price to a four-year contract. The Bucs selected Price with their first pick in the second round of the 2010 NFL draft. To make room for Price, the Bucs released rookie guard Lee Grimes.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers added another piece to their puzzle with the signing of Brian Price. Price signed a four-year contract with the team. The Bucs selected the UCLA defensive tackle with their first pick in the second round (35th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft. He was the second defensive tackle drafted by the Bucs after the team picked Oklahoma’s Gerald McCoy with the third-overall pick.

"I'm glad my agent got the deal done, so now I can concentrate on having a great training camp. I'm looking forward to contributing to the Buccaneers' dominant defensive tradition," said Price.

Price was an ideal draft choice by the Bucs because of his ability to stuff the run and get after the quarterback. The 6-foot-1, 303-pound Price is expected to play a big part in what the Bucs hope will be a formidable trio at the defensive tackle position with fellow rookie McCoy and second-year player Roy Miller. With the Bucs ranking dead last in the league against the run last year, the team is hoping that the addition of Price and McCoy will help turn things around.

With McCoy projected to win the undertackle (three-technique) position, Price figures to get a lot of playing time at nose tackle. Price played both the nose tackle and the three-technique during his collegiate career and his versatility will prove vital as he tries to remedy a Buccaneers defense ranked 27th in the NFL last season.

Price had 12.5 sacks in his career with the Bruins. The UCLA product totaled 97 tackles, 44.5 tackles for a loss, five forced fumbles, and one interception in his three college seasons.

Last year, Price had seven sacks and ended the season with 48 tackles, 23.5 tackles for a loss, and two forced fumbles. Price was third in the nation in tackles for a loss. Price broke into the lineup for the Bruins as a true-freshman in the 2007 season and finished that season with a bang. As a sophomore he had 4.5 sacks with 14 tackles for a loss and 35 tackles.

In order to secure Price’s roster spot the Bucs released rookie guard Lee Grimes, who was signed in April as an undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M.

According to PFT, Price is the highest pick signed by ANY team, so I'm taking this as a good sign from all perspectives.

Pressure is on McCoy to get signed and not miss much of training camp or Price might entrench himself as the starter and McCoy might be coming off of the bench.

Buc-Up.. please dude. McCoy is the new face of our franchise and will start from day 1 no matter what i gauruntee it! Price will actually be lucky if he ever starts a game this year because as of right now McCoy and Miller are the starting DTs. But im glad Price signed that's one less thing to worry about going into TC. I'll be there!

Define start. Price will not be in every play, but he will play in every game. These guys will be rotated in and out. Price will be a immediate starter because he is a run stuffer and a first round caliber DT. Miller may get more play time but, all three of these guys will be considered starters.

pinkstob- that's a very smart post. I think that's a brilliant idea and, i agree, if Penn doesn't agree to a shorter term increase as a stop gap for this year then my opinion will change on him. These players have to understand that the CBA was constructed to make them motivated to get a new deal done when the time came and that time is here. That said, the guys deserves some kind of bone so, hey Dominic, go turn the Glazer boys up side down and shake out the loose change for Pen.

Crap, I just realized I'm commenting on pinkstob's post from the other article about Pen's camp. Sorry folks. I'm a dork.

Miller, Price, McCoy will be rotating constantly; then it will be up to the injury gods who will actually be a starter from time to time.

McCoy might not report on time, and holdout for a couple days as the bottom and top tier around him shakes out. I would think that Suh would be who he is waiting for to sign not Bradford.

Benn should sign shortly. The same situation with Williams, Benn, Stroughter, Stoval; all will be rotating.

Lets keep our fingers crossed that Penn will report to camp on time and 3.3 million in his hands.

Go Bucs.

Hey PR! My question is what is the reason for a team not disclosing the financial terms on a new contract on certain players but not on all? I cldnt see it being a policy if for a recent example, Michael williams terms was released but Myron Lewis nor Price's wasnt detailed out.

Keep up the good work Dom. Glad to see these rookies heading to camp on time. What is the deal with Grimm not being signed yet?

I think the coaches want to start miller to see what he can do as a starter, but off the record they probably think that Price is eventually going to start. Price was somebody the organization was talking about in the middle of the 1st round if they ended up trading down. He had awesome stats in school especially against the run. His skill set is pretty amazing.

I agree with most here. Benn wil probably be signed within the week, along with Grimm.... not sure why he isn't yet.

McCoy, on the other hand will probably not happen until the first round starts to pan out.

I won't hold it against hm though. He has done and said all the right things. Seems like the type that will pressure his agent to get it done so he can get to camp.

Can not wait to see how these rookies and the second & third year players pan out this year.

VERY YOUNG, but.... Just the simple fact that they have the defense and offense implemented for a full year with stable coordinators should account for an extra win or two. Of course it all depends on how Freeman comes along. So far he is doing absolutely everything right, just hope it shows up on the field.

Yeah baby, get that young talent!!!! Go BUCS!!!!!!
