Among Tampa Bay’s inactives for Sunday’s game against Baltimore is cornerback Johnthan Banks. The second-year DB sat out of practice all week with a neck injury.
Starting in Banks’ place is Crezdon Butler, a fifth-year pro out of Clemson that the Bucs acquired in early September. Butler’s appeared in four of five games this year, making three total tackles on defense and one on special teams. Sunday will be his 30th game played and his first ever start.
Banks, in his second year out of Mississippi State, started four games this year and is tied for seventh on the team in tackles (18) and has grabbed one of Tampa Bay’s four interceptions. Banks received criticism during last week’s loss in New Orleans after drawing an illegal hands to the face penalty in overtime that extended the Saints’ game-winning drive.
The secondary will be down two starters on Sunday, with safety Dashon Goldson also sitting because of an ankle injury. Veteran Major Wright will get his third start in a row.
Also inactive today are QB Josh McCown, S Dashon Goldson, LB Jonathan Casillas, DE Larry English, T Kevin Pamphile and G Kadeem Edwards.
Players out for Baltimore are WR Marlon Brown, ILB Arthur Brown, T Eugene Monroe, OL Kelechi Osemele, TE Ryan Taylor, DT Timmy Jernigan and DE Chris Canty.
If Schiano was coaching this disaster, especially after spending a ton of money to “revamp” the roster, people would be calling for his head. So far…crickets…but for how long?
