There’s still over four months of waiting, but the National Football League announced its preseason schedule Thursday.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will open with a pair of road games, first in Philadelphia and then in Jacksonville. Fans will get to see the Bucs’ third-week preseason “dress rehearsal” at Raymond James Stadium against the Cleveland Browns before the team wraps up regular-season preparations against the Washington Redskins.
Dates and times for most games have yet to be disclosed, but the third game against Cleveland is set for 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26 and will be aired nationally on CBS. Fans will get their first look at the initial stage of Raymond James Stadium renovations, highlighted by expanded, state-of-the-art video boards in the end zones and corner towers.
The preseason opener at Philadelphia will be the week of Aug. 11-15 and the Jacksonville matchup will be the week of Aug. 18-22. The Bucs-Redskins finale will take place either Sept. 1 or 2.
All four games feature opponents Tampa Bay faced last year, either in preseason or the regular season.
The Bucs lost last year’s third-week preseason game 31-7 against Cleveland and the other three contests factored into their 6-10 overall record.
Tampa Bay took out Jacksonville 38-31 at home Week 5 before going on its bye and squandering a 24-7 halftime lead at Washington in Week 7 that resulted in a 31-30 loss. Four weeks later the Bucs evened their record at 5-5 by going to Philly and crushing the Eagles 45-17.
A press release issued by the team this afternoon mentioned season pass memberships being offered at a variety of price points. Memberships start as low as $40 per game for adults and $20 per game for youths. More detailed ticket information can be found by calling 1-866-582-BUCS or visiting Buccaneers.com.
