Pewter Report debuted a new season-long weekend feature this season called Fifth Down, that will showcase some of the Bucs’ new players each week as the season goes along. This week’s featured player is rookie defensive back Ryan Smith.

Smith was born in Germany, and raised in Clinton, Maryland and played both football and basketball in high school before earning a scholarship to play football at North Carolina Central University where he started 42 of 45 games. Smith was a fourth round pick of the Buccaneers earlier this year in the NFL Draft and has since converted from cornerback to safety.

Q1. If you are sentenced to death row, and the warden asks you what your final meal is, what are you eating?

A.”I’d have some crabs, because I haven’t had crabs in a long time. My favorite food is chicken shrimp alfredo, so I’m gonna have to have that. I’m gonna have some steak, I love the way my father cooks steak. My mom’s baked chicken, and her sweet potatoes. I love her sweet potatoes man, there’s a lot of stuff I could get, but those are the main things I eat. Dessert, some sherbert, some rainbow sherbert and red velvet cake. I’m drinking my mom’s sweet tea.”

Q2. You are sitting around on a weekend with nothing to do and none of your friends will find out, what is your guilty pleasure television show?

A. “I don’t really watch much television these days. But when I was younger I watched the Powerpuff Girls.”

Q3. If you weren’t playing professional football, what profession would you be doing?

A. “I majored in criminal justice, something to do in law enforcement. My Mom, she’s in that field so you know she’s got a lot of connections. I would’ve took that route. I wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much, but it was a backup plan.”

Q4. If you could date anyone, who would be your biggest celebrity dream date?

A. “That’s a good one, Keri Hilson. I don’t know much about her. But me just looking at her, she is just gorgeous. Oh, she is so gorgeous.”

Q5. You are driving cross country and you can only listen to one artist, who is it going to be?

A. “Drake. Cause he’s got a variety of everything. So he can do some bump, he can do some real soft music. He’s got all different types. So yeah, I’ll listen to Drake.”
