What I want to know is why Dom is on the freaking radio, right now?? Dumb Dog? He needs to be working the phones, wrangling up the troops, just something besides THAT! Jesus what is wrong?!

PR, if Dom did say this on the radio, I think you guys need to stay consistent and write a PR ALERT for it.

+1.. PR needs to hire me as an alert coordinator, because the strategy they have in place now is nonsense.

Who read the Delhomme alert last night? Pathetic..

Another FA period begins, and like clock work the word "overpaid" starts to get thrown around again. It's sad that for half a decade now we have spent the least amount of money and so many of our fans justify it as us not "overpaying". When are people going to realize if you want good players you have to pay..

Draft picks work for free now?

We're already on top of it. We didn't hear the radio interview, Soul Bro, and there is no podcast of it or a transcript. However, Jim Flynn has already reached out to MD for an exact quote (certainly cannot believe everything you read on JBF as they have been known take things out of context) so we can do a PR Alert story on it. Just waiting to hear back from him.

Keep in mind that we sourced the Kampman report, which came from NationalFootballPost.com. The Parker story came from a different source (a league source - not a media site).

How does that have anything to do with the fact that we've spent the least amount of money over the past 4-5 years? I've had this debate before, nobody can convince me the draft is a safer route to develop a team than FA is. Cheaper, sure, but not safer. Give me the NFL vet who has proven he can play in the league ANY DAY over a draft pick who may or may not work out. Sure a lot of FA's fail to work out, but my guess is that it's nowhere near the amount of draft picks that fail to work out. The draft is a crap shoot always has been and always will be.

The Buccaneers have not reached out to any unrestricted free agents,

Either he is totally parsing his words here or he actually has not even picked up the phone. Now THAT is a very, very bad sign. Building through the draft is one thing, but  to not even participate AT ALL in FA? How to dispel any rumor you might be broke. Quite the opposite, it suggests you are bankrupt.

Pewter Report, JBF has Dom directly ripping you: "I can find much better ways to waste $10 than to read on some Web site that I'm going to sign Aaron Kampman and Willie Parker."  What's the deal?  Seems classless to me, both by Dom and JBF.  http://www.joebucsfan.com/

Hmm... he could have read that for free. I hope he's a little smarter with the Bucs money.

The quote in the JBF article is written in a fashion which could be Duemig speaking as Dominik told him. I'm not sure that's a direct quote from Dominik. He wasn't on during the time I listened to Duemig but I may have missed him. So if it's a quote "as told to" Mr. Duemig...it may not be quite as accurate as we think.

Based on the transcribed quote the third person reporter references it doesn't seem like Dominik was actually on the radio and that Duemig stated as fact that the Kampman and Parker rumors were false becuase he was told directly by Dominik himself. So while Joesbucfan.com is using a supposed first hand conversation by an unreliable source in Duemig who is known to stretch the truth and is a shock jock looking to boost ratings on a radio show.

He might want to revisit vetting and sourcing his information before he tries to slander and overtly negate what other media outlets have reported, if he has so much journalistic integrity. Seeing as how no other local or national media outlet has taken Dominik to task over it.

For Dominik to publicly dampen fans expectations as SR stats in the thread it would have far higher consequences with regards to season ticket sales. Then to just let the rumors be floated the team had some level of interest in certain players on the open market.

"The Buccaneers have not reached out to any unrestricted free agents," Dominik told Duemig, as Duemig reported on WDAE-AM 620 this afternoon.

The bolded part is of the up-most importance becuase it show Dominik was not on the radio. As JBF is purposely trying to fool fans into believing he was by a cute little double twisting and play on words of how Duemig got the information directly from Dominik to pass on to his listeners. The italic part is where the lie comes in because it can't be vetted and is run as gospel that Dominik had actually contacted Duemig to debunk the rumors, which we all know would be a farce. Duemig is supplying no actual proof of the supposed conversation that allegedly took place between himself and Dominik other then to state that Dominik told him.

So for me personally, I am going to call bull spit on JBF.

In Football, RESPECT is never given freely by your opponent. It must be TAKEN from them...VIOLENTLY!

Great players cost a lot of money but help win games. High-priced players - a byproduct of poorly run front offices with bad scouting departments - only cost a lot of money.

I can't believe people think he's literally talked to NO ONE so far. Even the most idiotic of fans realize that GMs always lie about things like this in order to prevent division rivals from creating false interest and hiking up the price.

I don't think we're going to be calling many players, but to think they haven't contacted anyone is asinine.

We should have totally made Antrel Rolle the highest paid safety in NFL history like the Giants did. Or gave 30 year old  Julius Peppers a 7 year/$95 million deal. We'd be waaaay better off that way.

in the future I see 4-12 and great spending by the glaziers, a great draft where they both offensive rookie of the year, Suh will win Rookie of the year, MVP, have 22 sacks, Freeman will make manning like pee wee qb.........clayton and stovall will become elite recievers.................

I like a reserved approach to FA at this point. The contracts paid to Peppers and Rolle are ridiculous and will likely bite the teams who gave them out in the butt....Peppers in particular.

I think the Bucs should sign a guy such as Buchanon to allow them a year or so to bring along their own CB as I think there are needs in the upcoming draft which can be addressed moreso than CB.

I thought they'd look at a WR in FA or maybe trade for one plus draft one. Now...I think they might trade for one and draft one or draft two early.

Of course, not and I think the vast majority of people here are not suggesting we should have signed Peppers or Rolle for that money (although we probably couldn't have - they wouldn't have wanted to come here!).

Rather, the frustration is that we're not doing anything to plug some gaping holes that can't all be filled at the draft.  What happens if Suh and McCoy are off the board by No. 3, and we can't trade down?  I completely agree with the philosophy of building through the draft, I don't want to be the Redskins (or Bears).  But we desperately need some players, and when everything I'm hearing is that the Bucs aren't talking to anyone...  The biggest issue is at WR - which can't be addressed at the draft.  Freeman needs a good receiver to throw to, and WRs take at least a year to develop.  All the success that players like Harvin and Maclin have had has come opposite of established receivers - and no one's saying there's a Randy Moss in this draft.

So while we're not after profligate spending - we HAVE TO bring in some players through FA/trade.  Or else we're following up a 3-13 season less Bryant (I was going to put some more names of UFAs - then I realized we didn't have anyone else talented enough that we should worry about their departure).
