Quarterback Josh Freeman continues to make headlines for all the wrong reasons. The latest report states he is in the NFL's drug program.
As if the Buccaneers organization needed any more bad publicity in the news.

The latest report from ESPN’s Chris Mortensen is that Bucs quarterback Josh Freeman is a stage one participant in the NFL’s Drug Program. Mortensen states Freeman has not had “any incidents that have placed him in jeopardy of suspension.” Mortensen also writes the following:

Freeman has obtained a temporary use exemption for a prescription drug that normally would be on the banned list, the sources said.

Mortensen continued:

Freeman's stage one status also would not necessarily mean he has tested positive for a banned substance even though he has been subject to random or reasonable cause testing, as deemed necessary by the medical director who oversees the program. A player can be placed in stage one for a variety of reasons, including behavioral causes. The medical director determines the length of stage one status.

This comes on the heels of several NFL teams inquiring with the Buccaneers about Freeman being in the league’s drug program or not.

PewterReport.com will continue to follow the story and update it as more information becomes available.

HORSE, it is an NFL/CBA plan. That makes it relevant . It's not like they disclosed he had erectile dysfunction for instance.

How can you expect to have a franchise QB that has ADD?

What a piece of crap Schiano and his henchmen are. What is the point to further try to bury Freeman by leaking something that is nearly 2 years old? Is it to get the headline out there FREEMAN and DRUG TESTING in the same sentence since obviously, from the comments here for example, people are too stupid to read anything more than the headline. Schiano needs to go, he's a piece of Jersey trash. How would Dungy have handled a situation like this? Do you believe for a moment that Schiano has a 1/1000000th of the dignity or class of Dungy? If not then why is he here? Go back up north you college hack.

I am not happy that his medical record got out. That is wrong.

Is "someone" trying to ruin his career, or is this all of his own doing? We don't know anything conclusively.

And, so it begins. Let the "insider's" loose.

Before the liars and anklebiters start to run with this, you should read for yourself. A link is provided for your enlightenment. Freeman has obtained a temporary use exemption for a prescription drug that normally would be on the banned list and as such he is required to be in Stage 1 for monitoring. Nobody knows why he has requested this exemption, but Freeman has not had any incidents that have placed him in jeopardy of suspension, such as a positive test of a banned street-drug substance. Thus, Freeman is in relatively good standing under the NFL drug policy. Teams that are interested in acquiring Freeman are entitled to know his status only if he is one strike away from a suspension and that is NOT the case here. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9750827/sources-josh-freeman-tampa-bay-buccaneers-nfl-drug-program-not-danger-suspension
