The Buccaneers were shut out 27-0 in their regular season opener against the Baltimore Ravens, and punter Josh Bidwell's performance stood out in the Bucs' embarrassing loss at home. Bidwell earns this week's Pewter Report MVP honors.
The Buccaneers’ offense was putrid against the paltry Baltimore Ravens defense. Led by quarterback Chris Simms, Tampa Bay managed only 142 yards in total offense. Amid a day full of mistakes and costly turnovers, one Buccaneer managed to have a decent outing.

When the offense plays in the manner in which it did, it’s only fitting that the Pewter Report MVP of today’s game against the Baltimore Ravens would be punter Josh Bidwell. The lone bright spot for the Buccaneers, Bidwell managed to keep his team in the game by not giving the Ravens much field to work with.

The Buccaneers had as many punts as they did first downs in this contest. Overall, Bidwell punted the ball eight times for an average of 46.5 yards per punt.

On three occasions, Bidwell managed to punt the ball 49 yards or more, with his longest punt of the day being 56 yards.

With his performance, Bidwell has solidified himself as the ideal punter in the NFC. Barring no injury setbacks, Bidwell could be well on his way to securing another trip to Hawaii for his second consecutive Pro Bowl.
