Sources tell PewterReport.com that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are not interested in signing former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry, who was released due to his off-the-field issues but reportedly has a tryout scheduled with an NFL team.

Contrary to what at least one published report has suggested, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are not interested in former Cincinnati wide receiver Chris Henry.

According to a blog entry made on the Tampa Tribune's website on Tuesday, Henry, who has been suspended twice by the NFL for drug and alcohol-related incidents and was recently released by the Bengals after he was arrested for allegedly assaulting another man, was given permission by a judge in Cincinnati to travel to another city to tryout for another NFL team.

That team has not yet been identified, but the Tribune's blog entry speculated that it could be the Buccaneers, who have previously signed players with troubled pasts, including defensive tackle Darrell Russell and wide receivers David Boston and Antonio Bryant.

A former third-round draft pick, the 6-foot-4, 200-pound Henry has caught 88 passes for 1,370 yards (15.6 avg.) and 17 touchdowns during his three-year career.

While his off-the-field trouble has been well documented, Henry certainly has been productive on it. However, sources tell PewterReport.com that the Buccaneers are not interested in working out - or signing -- Henry.

The Buccaneers currently have 14 receivers on their offseason roster, including Joey Galloway, Ike Hilliard, Michael Clayton, Maurice Stovall, Dexter Jackson, Paris Warren and Antonio Bryant, among others.
