Not only might he resume his NFL playing career, former Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Derrick Brooks could be playing for an NFC South division rival this season.
Brooks, 36, is scheduled to work out for the New Orleans Saints this week, according to the Associated Press.
The 11-time Pro Bowler played for the Bucs from 1995-2008 before being released by Tampa Bay as part of the team’s youth movement in February.
The Saints expressed interest in Brooks earlier in the offseason, but a torn triceps injury to LB Mark Simoneau, who will reportedly be sidelined several weeks, prompted the Saints to arrange a work out with Brooks, a former first-round pick and the 2002 Defensive Player of the Year.
