The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made several roster moves Wednesday.

The Bucs have placed backup safety Will Allen and linebacker Rod Wilson on injured reserve. The team filled those two roster spots by re-signing LB Matt McCoy and promoting cornerback Derrick Roberson from the practice squad to the 53-man active roster.

Allen, a special teams captain, sustained a broken thumb in Tampa Bay's 38-28 win over Green Bay. It is not clear what type of injury Wilson sustained to lead him to injured reserve, which ends his season.

Ironically, Allen is the second safety on Tampa Bay's roster to have his season end due to a thumb injury. Bucs S Jermaine Phillips sustained a fractured thumb that required surgery in Tampa Bay's Week 2 contest at Buffalo. Allen filled in for Phillips and suspended S Tanard Jackson, starting two games. He finishes the season with 21 tackles on defense.

Allen and Wilson had one and two special teams tackles, respectively, on the season.

In addition to those roster moves, the Bucs also signed S Emanuel Cook to their eight-man practice squad today. He originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the New York Jets. Cook played collegiately at South Carolina.

McCoy and Roberson are in their third and second stints on Tampa Bay's active roster, respectively, this season. McCoy's most recent release came on Oct. 13. Roberson's last visit to the Bucs' 53-man roster also came last month.
