The Bucs reinstated guard Arron Sears to the active roster on Tuesday. Sears skipped the first 10 weeks of the season, training camp, and the majority of the offseason program while dealing with a personal matter. Sears was a 2007 second-round pick and served as the Bucs' starting left guard for the '07 and '08 seasons.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced that guard Arron Sears was reinstated to the active roster on Tuesday. Sears missed the first 10 weeks of the 2009 season while dealing with a personal matter. Sears attended the team's voluntary mini-camp in April, but left during the team's offseason practices and skipped all of training camp and the preseason, which prompted the Bucs to start second-year G Jeremy Zuttah in his place.

The 6-foot-3, 319-pound Sears started 31 games for the Buccaneers at left guard in the 2007 and 2008 seasons. He was a second-round pick of Tampa Bay in the 2007 NFL Draft. After not reporting for training camp, Sears was placed on the reserved/do not report list.

"We welcome Arron back to the team," said Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik. "Throughout this process we have remained in close contact with Arron and his agent, and this is a good opportunity for him to integrate himself back into our football team."

The Buccaneers will have a two-week exemption towards the 53-man roster, meaning Tampa Bay does not have to clear a roster spot for him. Over the next two weeks Sears is allowed to practice and attend all team meetings and functions at One Buc Place.
