Tampa Bay punter Josh Bidwell only got three opportunities to punt on Friday night against the Tennessee Titans and made the most of them. In the Buccaneers' 20-17 overtime win against the Titans, Bidwell, who is this week's PewterReport.com Most Valuable Player, averaged a blistering 56.7 yards per punt and did not allow a return.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers punter Josh Bidwell dominated the first 13 games of the 2004 season before embarking on a three-game skid to end the season. But Bidwell seems content to leave his punting woes last year in the past as he started off the 2005 preseason with a stellar performance at Tennessee that earned him the PewterReport.com Most Valuable Player honors in the Bucs' 20-17 overtime win against the Titans.

Bidwell averaged 56.7 yards on three first half punts, with two of those booming blasts inside the 20-yard line. The other punt was a 69-yard rocket that went into the end zone for a touchback. He also did a solid job of holding for kickers Todd France and Matt Bryant, who were 2-for-2 on their field goal attempts this evening.

Bidwell gave way to backup punter Brian Simnjanovski in the second half.

Bidwell was on a Pro Bowl pace for the first 13 games last year before a shaky performance down the stretch cost him a trip to Hawaii as well as a couple of Buccaneers records. Bidwell has admitted that he was disappointed in his finish last year, but seems poised for a great start this year.
