Pewter Report debuts the first of many NFL mock drafts leading up to the 2010 NFL Draft. As the draft approaches the mock drafts will expand in length. To get us started, here is an early projection for the first round.
1. St. Louis Rams - Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford (JR)
They could trade down to get Bradford. Detroit/Bucs could trade up for Suh.
2. Detroit Lions - Nebraska DT Ndamukong Suh
The Lions need help along the DL, but keep in mind that offensive tackle is also a big need.
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Oklahoma DT Gerald McCoy (JR)
The D-line needs a 3-technique pass rusher. Tennessee safety Eric Berry is plan B.
4. Washington Redskins - Notre Dame QB Jimmy Clausen (JR)
Mike Shanahan will want a QB. Bruce Allen will get his coach what he wants.
5. Kansas City Chiefs - Oklahoma State OT Russell Okung
The Chiefs struggled to pass block and they invested a lot in Matt Cassel.
6. Seattle Seahawks - Maryland OT Bruce Campbell (JR)
Seattle finds a replacement for Walter Jones. Campbell has sky-rocketed.
7. Cleveland Browns - Tennessee S Eric Berry (JR)
His talent says he should go higher, but his position pushes him down.
8. Oakland Raiders - Georgia Tech DE Derrick Morgan (JR undeclared)
They need help up front. Morgan's got the size and speed Oakland looks for.
9. Buffalo Bills - Alabama LB Rolando McClain (JR undeclared)
The Bills need an inside linebacker and McClain is going to be a force.
10. Jacksonville Jaguars - Florida QB Tim Tebow
He will help sell tickets, and could be another version of a Vince Young QB.
11. Denver Broncos (from Chicago) - Oklahoma State WR Dez Bryant
With Brandon Marshall on the outs in Denver they need a big-play receiver.
12. Miami Dolphins - Texas OLB Sergio Kindle
A great fit as a pass rushing 3-4 outside linebacker. Parcells loves LBs.
13. San Francisco 49ers - Florida CB Joe Haden (JR)
This makes sense. Haden is the top corner and the 49ers need help at DB.
14. Seattle Seahawks (from Denver) - Clemson RB CJ Spiller
Seattle needs help in their running game, and Spiller is a game-changer.
15. New York Giants - UCLA DT Brian Price (JR)
The Giants always look to fortify their DL, and land an excellent prospect.
16. Tennessee Titans - Michigan DE Brandon Graham
Graham carried the Wolverines defense, and end is a glaring need.
17. San Francisco 49ers (from Carolina) - Oklahoma OT Trent Williams
The San Francisco offensive line was a weakness that could use a skilled RT.
18. Pittsburgh Steelers- USC S Taylor Mays
Their secondary got burned late in the season. Mays is a freak athlete.
19. Atlanta Falcons - Missouri OLB Sean Weatherspoon
The Falcons defense needs help and Weatherspoon would be a good value pick.
20. Houston Texans - Texas S Earl Thomas (Redshirt SO. undeclared)
Thomas is a ballhawk that would fill a void in the Texans defense.
21. New York Jets - Michigan CB Donovan Warren (JR)
Lito Sheppard has been targeted opposite Darrelle Revis.
22. Baltimore Ravens - Notre Dame WR Golden Tate (JR)
The Ravens need to get Joe Flacco more targets to pass the ball to.
23. Arizona Cardinals - Rutgers OT Anthony Davis (JR)
The Cardinals tackles were a weak spot. Davis could replace Mike Gandy.
24. Green Bay Packers - Iowa OT Bryan Bulaga (JR undeclared)
The offensive line allowed way too many sacks. LT Chad Clifton is getting older.
25. Cincinnati Bengals - Oklahoma TE Jermaine Gresham
Carson Palmer could use another target to throw to, and this is good value.
26. New England Patriots - TCU OLB Jerry Hughes
The Patriots defense needs more pass rushing, and that is Hughes specialty.
27. Philadelphia Eagles - USC DE Everson Griffen (JR)
Victor Abiamiri hasn't done enough. The Eagles need more pass rushers.
28. Dallas Cowboys - Northwestern DE Corey Wootton
The Wildcats product is a very good fit as a 5-technique in their 3-4.
29. Minnesota Vikings - Alabama DT Terrence Cody
The Williams Wall is getting old and Cody will be a good eventual replacement for one of those DTs.
30. San Diego Chargers - Tennessee DT Dan Williams
The Chargers need a 3-4 NT. Jamal Williams is 34 and may be gone.
31. New Orleans Saints - Penn State DT Jared Odrick
He is a good fit in their defense. DT Sedrick Ellis gets hurt too often.
32. Indianapolis Colts - Florida State CB Patrick Robinson
The Colts secondary needs corner help, and Robinson is the top senior CB.
