If the St. Louis Rams have discussed a possible trade related to both teams' 2010 draft positioning, Rams general manager Bily Devaney isn't aware of it. Devaney hosted a chat session on NFL.com today, and stated the Bucs and Rams hadn't talked about a possible trade that would allow Tampa Bay to move from the third overall spot to the first pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, as a report from Scout.com suggested last week.

With Tampa Bay proposing a trade for our 1st overall pick, and we would receive their 1st and 3rd round pick and Josh Johnson. I feel we should trade with Tampa and then propose a trade with Washington for their first round pick( Since they want Bradford). We need all the help we can and this would free up a lot of salary space. What do you think?

I am being completely honest when I say I have not talked to anyone in Tampa Bay. I'm not saying that won't happen at some point but to date there is absolutely nothing going on.

PewterReport.com's Take: We wrote last week that we didn't think there was much validity to Scout.com's report that suggested the Bucs and Rams were talking a trade that would send Tampa Bay's first-round pick (third overall) and quarterback Josh Johnson and a third-round pick to St. Louis in exchange for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. Of course the Bucs would love to draft Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, but everything we've heard from league sources suggests Tampa Bay isn't willing to trade up due to cash flow issues. Plus, the Bucs, who are coming off a 3-13 season, need as many high draft picks as possible in order to upgrade their roster. If anything, the Bucs might be more likely to trade down. There is one important piece of information that's worth mentioning regarding the fact that Rams general manager Billy Davaney has yet to talk to Bucs general manager Mark Dominik about any possible trades. That might be true, but it doesn't mean Dominik and Rams vice president of football operations Kevin Demoff haven't had that type of discussion yet. Remember -- Dominik and Demoff worked closely together in Tampa Bay before Demoff left the Bucs to join the Rams in 2009.
