Buccaneers starting quarterback Josh Freeman caught up ESPN's Pat Yasinskas and shared some interesting thoughts. Freeman said he has been watching tape of college wide receivers with offensive coordinator Greg Olson and quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt. Freeman shared who has caught his eye.
"I’ve been in watching film of different receivers with the offensive coordinator and the quarterback coach,’’ Freeman said Friday. “You might not have the Michael Crabtree or the Darius Heyward-Bey, but it’s a pretty talented receiver group coming out this year. There’s Dez Bryant and I’m a big fan of Jordan Shipley out of Texas.’’
Shipley projects as a second-round pick. Click here for a prospect profile of Shipley. Freeman also shared who he would like to see Tampa Bay take with their first pick, Nebraska's Ndamukong Suh.
“I would love to see Suh here,’’ Freeman said. “He basically lived in my backfield every time I played against Nebraska. The drive that that guy has is unbelievable. He’s going to be a great teammate for whoever he goes to. The guy makes plays. He gets in the backfield and nobody can block him. They’re trying to figure out what’s going to help our team the most. If it’s a receiver, it’s a receiver. If it’s get Suh, it’s getting Suh. Anyway you look at it, I’m excited.’’
Yasinskas also shared some interesting comments from Freeman regarding wide receiver Antonio Bryant and head coach Raheem Morris in an excellent article.

PewterReport.com's Take: While some might find it odd that a player is part of the scouting for the NFL Draft, it is not that rare. Many teams have had their quarterbacks throw passes to draft prospects on visits before the draft. While some may say that the Bucs front office won't care about Freeman's opinion of the players, Tampa Bay has listened to their players in recent years. Cornerback Ronde Barber told Pewter Report prior to the 2008 draft that he recommended Kansas cornerback Aqib Talib. A year later Barber touted Freeman to the Bucs front office and Pewter Report before the draft. Barber has a close relationship with Morris, as does Freeman, so their opinions carry weight with one of the Bucs top decision makers.
