Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Carnell ‘Cadillac' Williams was awarded the Buccaneers 2009 Ed Block Courage Award. Williams will receive the award at a banquet in Baltimore, Maryland. The award is given to one player from every team in the NFL. In 2009 Williams played in all 16 games after sustaining torn patellar tendons during the 2007 and the 2008 season finale.
Last season Williams led the Buccaneers in rushing with 823 yards on 211 carries and four touchdowns. He also caught 28 passes for 217 yards with three touchdowns. In Tampa Bay franchise history Williams is fifth on the rushing list with 3,238 yards and is sixth in rushing touchdowns with 18.
Williams was second to New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in the Associated Press 2009 Comeback Player of the Year award. Williams is a restricted free agent that is likely to return to the Buccaneers next season in his sixth professional season.
