After enduring a quiet start to the free agent signing period, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are apparently showing interest in several players that remain unsigned. In fact, the Bucs have scheduled a visit for Thursday with Philadelphia free agent safety Sean Jones, according to the Tampa Tribune.

Jones, 28, has started 53 games since entering the NFL with the Cleveland Browns in 2004. Injuries sidelined Jones for a significant amount of action during his first two years in the league, but he's managed to stay relatively healthy since then.

The 6-foot-1, 220-pound Jones left Cleveland for Philadelphia in 2009. He played in 15 games (nine starts) for the Eagles, notching 44 tackles and two interceptions. For his career, Jones has hauled in 16 interceptions while notching 30 passes defensed.

The Bucs are in the market for a safety after losing Will Allen to the Pittsburgh Steelers in free agency. Tampa Bay wants to replace Allen and add a player that can push strong safety Sabby Piscitelli for a starting job.

Tampa Bay is also attempting to line up visits with free agent safeties Brodney Pool (Cleveland) and Gibril Wilson (Miami), according to the St. Petersburg Times.

PewterReport.com has also reported the Bucs' interest in defensive end Marques Douglas (New York Jets) and guard Montrae Holland (Dallas) over the last few days, in addition to the team's interest in re-signing defensive end Jimmy Wilkerson and linebacker Angelo Crowell.

In other news, Bucs free agent wide receiver Antonio Bryant has reportedly signed with the Cincinnati Bengals.
