What should fans expect from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are coming off a 3-13 season, their worst since 1991? According to former Bucs defensive backs coach and current Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, Tampa Bay should be improved because its head coach, Raheem Morris, should be a better head coach in his second season on the job.

“It’s like it is with a second-year player,’’ Tomlin said Tuesday at the NFL owners meetings. “You’ve had a lap around the track, and so there’s no element of the journey that you’re not familiar with. I think prior to the first year you have a vision of the journey, a vision of your plan. And after your first year you’ve got tangible evidence of why it works and maybe why it doesn’t. That’s information that can be quality information for you if you’re sharp, and Raheem is sharp. So I imagine he’ll be better in 2010.’’

PewterReport.com's Take: The Super Bowl-winning Coach Tomlin knows Morris extremely well since Morris was his understudy in Tampa Bay. While Morris should be a better head coach in 2010 (let's hope the team doesn't have to fire any coordinators before the season starts or during it this year), it's fair to question whether the Bucs will be a better team. Tampa Bay hasn't been active in free agency and lost one of its best players on offense -- wide receiver Antonio Bryant. The Bucs are armed with 11 picks in the 2010 NFL Draft, but no one really knows how much of an impact the team's rookie class can and will have this year.
