The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have announced the hiring of a director of communications. Jonathan Grella will start that position on May 17. Earlier this year, the Bucs parted ways with Public Relations Director Jeff Kamis after 10 years.

Grella has worked in public relations for over a decade with top business and government leaders. He will inherit an experienced and productive staff in Public Relations Manager Jason Wahlers and Public Relations Coordinator Dan Berglund. The public relations department has been under-manned after lay-offs and resignations over the past year. However Wahlers and Berglund have maintained an excellent quality of work for the department during the transition.

"We're thrilled to welcome Jonathan and his wife, Lauren, to Tampa Bay and the Buccaneers organization," said general manager Mark Dominik. "We're confident that Jonathan's professional savvy, outgoing personality and love for football will combine to make for an outstanding addition to our team."

Grella is leaving Securing America's Future Energy (SAFE) and its spin-off, the Electrification Coalition (EC) to work with the Buccaneers. Grella was the Vice President of Communications and Strategy at SAFE and EC. Prior to that he was the Vice President of Media Relations at Edelman Public Relations. Grella has a Master of Arts degree from The Catholic University of America and Bachelor of Arts of degree from Villanova University.

"I'm excited by the prospect of marrying my passion for football with my expertise in communications," said Grella. "I'm humbled by this unique opportunity, eager to get immersed in this dynamic team and fan base, and looking forward to working closely with the media."
