The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have another of their restricted free agents signed in time for the start of organized team activities with the signing of right tackle Jeremy Trueblood. The fifth-year veteran Trueblood was a restricted free agent that would have required compensation in the form of draft picks if he had signed with another team.

Trueblood, 27, has been Tampa Bay’s starter at right tackle since entering the lineup as a rookie. The 6-foot-8, 320-pound Trueblood replaced right tackle Kenyatta Walker after three games during his rookie 2006 season and has not missed a start since then. His streak of consecutive games started is at 63.

Trueblood was the 59th overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. The second-rounder out of Boston College was unable to hit unrestricted free agency because of the dissolution of the collective bargaining agreement. Trueblood had four years of experience, and players needed six years of experience in order to be unrestricted free agents. The Bucs tendered Trueblood at an original-draft position tender that would have caused another team to compensate Tampa Bay with a second-round pick if they signed Trueblood away. Trueblood will make $1.759 million in 2010.

Trueblood joins teammates Barrett Ruud, Clifton Smith, Elbert Mack, and Maurice Stovall as players that have signed their tender contracts. Left tackle Donald Penn and running back Cadillac Williams have yet to sign their tender offers.
