According to ESPN, the St. Louis Rams and reps for Sam Bradford started contract negotiations today. Bradford, the first overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, is looking at a record-breaking payday.
The former Sooners quarterback's expected payday in guaranteed money should be between $45-50 million.
This is big news for McCoy because the same agent, CAA's Ben Dogra, represents both players. A deal in place for Bradford would help to get the ball rolling for McCoy and his contract.
McCoy, selected out of Oklahoma with the third overall pick by the Buccaneers, has stated that he would like to report to training camp on time, which starts July 31st.
With that being said, expect McCoy and the Bucs to commence contract talks within the next week or so with McCoy looking at a substantial sum of money. He will be looking at something close to what defensive tackle Tyson Jackson received last year - a five-year, $57 million contract.
