The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have re-signed quarterback Jevan Snead.
Tampa Bay cut Snead on the first day of training camp. Snead was with the Bucs throughout the offseason after going undrafted out of Ole Miss. With Snead Tampa Bay gets a quarterback that is familiar with their offensive system. The Bucs are looking for quarterback help after starting quarterback Josh Freeman went down with a broken thumb. Tampa Bay expects Freeman to be ready for the season opener against Cleveland.
Snead is only expected to be on the roster for the remainder of the preseason, as the team is very happy with backup quarterbacks Josh Johnson and Rudy Carpenter.
The Bucs have also announced that they re-signed defensive end George Johnson. The Bucs signed Johnson as an undrafted free agent on May 3. He was cut by the Bucs on August 10.
To make room for Johnson, the Bucs waived/injured defensive end Brandon Gilbeaux.
