(On Buccaneers’ performance)
"It was obviously a good game; a good win for us. It’s one game at a time. These guys are getting wise beyond their years. They are starting to play better. They’re starting to play together; fast; smart. They’re playing with confidence. We just got out and do our job. That’s what we’re supposed to do."
(On Motivation to win today)
"It’s the same deal. You’ve got to go out there and keep winning games. No body is going to remember the team that’s going to be 2 and whatever. This game was just one more that we had to win. We went out and we won it. Now we’ve got to move on to our next opponent. No disrespect to Carolina. What we’re trying to do is win football games. That’s our job."
(On how did you shut down Carolina’s running game)
"I don’t know if you can really shut down Carolina’s running game. You can hold it to a certain point. We were fortunate today. We had to make some adjustments to our eight-man front. We had to stop the run. We had to get up there. We just tackled. These guys really hit today. Our guys had to come to the posse and hunt and go get these guys. That’s what we did today."
(On third-down Conversions)
"In order to be a good football team, you’ve got to convert on third-down. We’ve got a pretty good quarterback, and we like our chances every time we go out there on third–down. It really doesn’t matter what the situation is. Sometimes I hold them back as a coach, and you have to because you’ve got to be smart with the football. You mentioned the five turnovers, and we didn’t want that to again today."
QB JOSH FREEMAN
(On better feeling this year than last)
"No doubt. It always feels good to win and it was a team effort. The offense played all right and got some points on the board. The defense played lights out in the second half, held them out of the end zone. They shut them out. Playing like that it just felt great, playing a divisional opponent and to get the win."
(On turnover free day)
"Yeah, it was definitely a day where turnovers were huge. They turned it over I think maybe once or twice. It was one of those things. Alex Van Pelt told me all week if you can go the whole game and not turn it over once we’re going to have a really good chance to win this game. So I kind of took that mentality into the game. I still wanted to be aggressive and make plays but at the same time knowing when and when not to."
(On scrambles)
"I have no idea how many. The O-line played well. We knew they were going to play man to man and leave me unaccounted for so when they packed their drops I was kind of alert to see if I had any running lanes."
WR MIKE WILLIAMS
(On making a difference on the team)
"Yes, like I said I want to go out and help my team win no matter what I have to do. Whether I have to Go out there and block, catch passes, run touchdowns and if I have to do it I want to do it."
(On touchdown catch)
"It was a goal route. Josh seen a safety bail over there and he gave me a post. I thought it was a wrong call myself because I was about to run right into a safety but then he bailed. Josh knew what he was doing and hit me in stride and I seen everything open up and I knew they weren’t going to take me down inside the 10."
CB RONDE BARBER
(On the pass rush)
"That was the plan man. You’ve got to come up with something to deal with 89 (Steve Smith) over there. Fortunately for us we’ve got a guy like Aqib (Talib) who can handle it. The one big catch that Steve (Smith) had today was an all out blitz and he just had time, he found some time and got away from him a little bit. I think when you have confidence in your man to man cover guys you can do it. We went into this game feeling that we had the advantage there and at the end of the day it worked out for us."
"Yeah, exactly. We knew, not that he couldn’t do it but he’s a young quarterback. They don’t have a lot in the way of threats over there at wide receiver. At least we felt like if we stopped their running game – and they had some gashes on us in the running game, but we felt like if we kept their running game under control he wasn’t going to be able to beat us today and it proved to be the case."
