The punter carousel continues for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. As first reported by ESPN’s Pat Yasinskas, the Bucs have cut punter Chris Bryan. Bryan was averaging an NFL worst 37.4 yards per punt with a net average of 34.3. The Bucs signed Bryan at the end of the preseason after he was cut by Green Bay. He had a long punt of 57 yards with seven punts downed inside the 20-yard line.
On Tuesday, the Bucs worked out Brent Bowden, T.J. Conley, and Robert Malone. Bowden was a sixth-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft and has spent time on both the active roster and the practice squad.
Wednesday morning the team signed Malone. He first entered the NFL in 2010 with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Fresno State. In his senior collegiate season he averaged 45.2 yards per punt with 17 punts downed inside the 20-yard line. He also had 15 punts of over 50 yards. In his collegiate career he punted 120 times for 5,117 yards with 42.6 average and 44 punts downed inside the 20.
The Buccaneers also made a change on their practice squad cutting linebacker J.D. Folsom and signing linebacker Mike Balogun. He was previously on the Washington Redskins practice squad after entering the NFL this past April as an undrafted free agent with the San Francisco 49ers. Balogun played collegiately at Oklahoma.
