On October 28th the Tampa Bay Buccaneers donated $5,000 to "Faces of Courage", a nonprofit organization that provides life enriching experiences to underdeserved kids, women, and families touched by cancer and/or blood disorders. The founder and CEO of "Faces of Courage", Peggy Smith, was presented a check by CB Ronde Barber and LB Adam Hayward.
Barber's mother and grandmother are breast cancer survivors and Hayward lost his mother to breast cancer. Both players are advocates for the fight against the deadly disease.
"It's amazing that you have people out there dedicating their time, effort, and money to helping others out," said Hayward. "It's well-needed; you need to get away from that kind of thing, because the reality is you're battling something and your family is going through something with you. To be able to take these families away from that and just have fun and be with your loved ones and just really experience life is beautiful to see."
During the month of October the Buccaneers have made a concerted effort to celebrate breast cancer awareness.
