THIS SEASON: The Atlanta Falcons are 5-2 this season. They started the season with a six-point loss at Pittsburgh. Atlanta had a big road win at New Orleans in Week3, and also have wins against Arizona, Cincinnati, Cleveland, and San Francisco. The Falcons other loss came on the road at Philadelphia.
The Buccaneers started the 2010 season with a come from behind victory over the Cleveland Browns 17-14, and beat the Panthers 20-7 in Carolina in Week 2. Tampa Bay was beaten badly in Week 3 at home falling to the Pittsburgh Steelers 38-13. The Bucs had another come from behind victory with a 24-21 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Tampa Bay was beaten at home by the New Orleans Saints 31-6, but followed up the loss with a last minute comeback 18-17 win over the St. Louis Rams. Last Sunday the Bucs recorded another fourth quarter comeback in their 38-35 road win against the Arizona Cardinals.
LAST SEASON: Atlanta finished with a 9-7 record. It was the first time in franchise history that the Falcons had produced back-to-back winning records.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers produced a 3-13 regular season record in their first season under head coach Raheem Morris and general manager Mark Dominik. The Bucs were quiet in the free agency, but upgraded their roster with a strong draft. The Bucs took two defensive tackles with their top two picks. With the third-overall pick the Bucs took Gerald McCoy and used their second-round pick on Brian Price. Wide receivers Arrelious Benn and Mike Williams were taken in the second and fourth round respectively.
THE LAST TIME THESE TEAMS MET: The last time they played was in the season finale of the 2009 season. The Falcons won at Tampa Bay by a score of 20-10.
