The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could see the return of second-year wide receiver Sammie Stroughter this Sunday. Stroughter, 24, was able to practice on Thursday for the second straight day. Stroughter has missed the last two games with a foot injury. The 5-foot-10, 189-pound Stroughter said he is day-to-day and would be a game time decision.

“It is progressing. I hope to continue to stay strong physically and mentally. I’m out there running around again. Each day is going to get better,” said Stroughter. “All I can do is go out there and be prepared. Whatever happens is the coaches’ decision.”

This season Stroughter has 15 receptions for 177 yards. Last year Stroughter played in 13 games and totaled 31 receptions for 334 yards and one touchdown. After starting four games as the Z (flanker) receiver Stroughter is back to being the third receiver in the zebra package due to the emergence of rookie wide out Arrelious Benn. Bucs head coach Raheem Morris addressed Stroughter’s role on Thursday after practice.



“Right now Sammie has been the starting zebra since he came on campus,” said Morris. “He has his role. That’s kind of what he does and he’s always a guy that can work the slot he had a couple of games where he was the starting Z for us, and go out there and play that position.”
