The accolades just keep pouring in for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Yesterday, quarterback Josh Freeman won his second NFC Offensive Player of the Week award. Today, running back LeGarrette Blount was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month for December.
Today, Freeman was named the FedEx NFL Air Player of the Week for his performance against the New Orleans. Freeman also won the award last week following his five-touchdown game against the Seattle Seahawks and becomes the only player to ever win the award in back-to-back weeks.
In the Bucs’ 23-13 win over the Saints, Freeman completed 21-of-26 passes for 255 yards with two touchdowns and zero interceptions, while compiling a QB rating of 133.2. Freeman beat out Indianapolis’ Peyton Manning and Atlanta’s Matt Ryan for the award.
Along the winning the award, FedEx will make a $2,000 donation in Freeman’s name to the local Safe Kids USA coalitions in Tampa Bay to support pedestrian safety improvements.
