One Buc Named To All-NFC South Defensive Team

ESPN's NFC South blogger Pat Yasinskas named his all NFC South defensive team and only one Buccaneer was good enough to make it.
Cornerback: Aqib Talib, Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He appeared in only 11 games due to a one-game suspension and a late-season injury. The second cornerback spot on this team came down to Talib and New Orleans’ Jabari Greer, who might be the best cover corner in the division. But Greer produced only two interceptions. Talib had six in a short season.

PewterReport.com's Take: One can make the argument that Ronde Barber should be on the team instead of Talib. Barber was more consistent in 2010 and started every game. Talib got six interceptions but he also gave up four long touchdowns in man coverage and two touchdowns in zone coverage. All that came early in the season and Talib played better before going on injured reserve. The Bucs weak front seven is exposed by not a single player making the all NFC South team. It is understandable for some young defensive linemen to get beat out by veterans, but the Bucs have a veteran linebacking corps and they weren't even mentioned as potential candidates. The Bucs have had the same linebackers the past two seasons when they've ranked 32nd and 29th in stopping the run. Improving the linebackers has to be a top consideration for Tampa Bay this offseason.
