The Buccaneers released linebacker Jon Alston from the active roster on Thursday night. Alston was one of the few Bucs that Tampa Bay signed in free agency last spring. The veteran linebacker of the Rams and Raiders was injured during training camp last year and spent the entire 2010 season on injured reserve. Alston was known for his special teams skills rathar than playing on the regular defense. Tampa Bay did some other non-active roster moves on Thursday. Former guard Randall McDaniel was released from reserved retired and center Jason Nerys was released from the reserved/did not report list.

LOL! I was going to ask the same thing.........is there some post active status that the average Joe doesn't hear about? I can't think of any plausible reasons to even have this considered as news worthy (no disrespect PR).
