According to ESPN's NFC South expert Pat Yasinskas, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the leading candidate to be the featured team on HBO's "Hard Knocks" series.

The popular show follows one NFL team closely each training camp and preseason. Last year the New York Jets were featured and the interest and attention given to the Jets grew dramatically.

Due to the lockout of NFL players, there may not be a training camp and preseason in 2011, but if there is the Bucs could be the featured team on HBO. Yasinskas writes, "This would make plenty of sense for the Bucs. They’re a team that struggled with attendance last season. Not a single game sold out at Raymond James Stadium and segments of the team’s fan base have not been positive about ownership."

Pewter Report has spoken to Bucs officials for months about possibly being on Hard Knocks. The team has always indicated they were open to considering the possibility.
