According to Andrew Economos twitter page, the Bucs long-snapper is making progress in his efforts to come back from an injured achilles. Economos sustained the injury and had surgery to repair his achilles this spring. The Buccaneers were unsure of Economos status for the 2011 season due to the NFL lockout. According to Economos, he should be ready soon.

"Trying to get right for this season," wrote Economos. "it's getting there. Not too much longer."

If training camp and the preseason starts on time the Bucs could hold back their special teams captain and sign a free agent to do long-snapping duties. That could give Economos extra time to rehab and be ready for the start of the 2011 season.

Pick up an undrafted rookie long snapper and put Economos on the PUP list if need be. It is a position that requires accuracy and if it ain't broke.....

Good news. I was really worried when I first heard he snapped his achilles.

"Deep Snapper", what a great name for a porn movie.

NYBUCCGUY- Dave Moore longsnapped and was 3rd string TE, and the Balls all went all over the place. Economos is dead perfect on his snaps, and thats worth one single roster spot. The guys is one of the best long snappers in the league, and with barth kicking, we have excellent special teams. I wouldn't ruin that for anything, especially because the guy is not a 3rd stringer somewhere else.

I dont like having a long snapper that doesnt provide some kind of depth at another position. I think its a waste of a roster spot. When you add in the fact that Economos didnt play all that well last year and is now injured, it seems time to move on.
