After years of having their preseason games broadcast on local NBC news affiliate WFLA, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have announced a multi-year partnership with WTSP, a local CBS affiliate.
"The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are pleased to introduce WTSP-TV as the new official home of Buccaneers preseason football," said Buccaneers co-chairman Bryan Glazer. "Both sides are excited to have this agreement in place to provide top-flight coverage for our emerging young team. We are especially thrilled that we will be continuing our partnership with the exceptional broadcast team of Chris Myers and John Lynch."
CBS Channel 10 will begin broadcasting the 2011 preseason slate, which starts at home against New England on Thursday, August 18 at 7:30 p.m. Tampa Bay's first preseason game is at Kansas City and will broadcast nationally by Fox at 8:00 p.m.
"We are very proud of our preseason partnership with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers," said Ken Tonning, President and General Manager of WTSP-TV. "The Bucs are a tremendous asset to the communities of Tampa Bay and 10 News is committed to providing fans with the highest quality HD broadcasts of the preseason games. We have climbed aboard and encourage fans to do so as well."
In the event that the Bucs' home preseason games are blacked out, which is a real possibility, they will broadcast on a tape delay basis on WTSP.
